This thesis explores the role of entrepreneurship in reducing poverty, focusing on developed countries. It addresses the question: what is the situation of entrepreneurship and poverty in these countries? Four research questions guide the analysis: the relationship between entrepreneurship and poverty, the characteristics of entrepreneurial sub-ecosystems, the role of bricolage, and the impact of innovation on firm survival. The first part presents a systematic literature review, revealing a field of research that is still at an early stage and lacks robust theoretical frameworks. The second part adopts an ecosystem approach and shows that sub-ecosystems foster social inclusion and entrepreneurial learning, although bricolage practices persist despite an abundance of resources. The third part shows that innovation improves the survival probability of firms created by entrepreneurs living in poverty. This research helps to inform policies and schemes that foster more inclusive ecosystems.
