Développons l’entrepreneuriat dans les territoires grâce à l’Économie Sociale et Solidaire – 31.01.24
Developing entrepreneurship in local areas through the Social and Solidarity Economy
The social and solidarity economy (SSE) has become an economic force to be reckoned with, given its contribution to wealth creation and employment. This is particularly true in France and Canada, where the SSE accounts for around 10% of GDP. Its values, based on democratic and participatory principles, consideration for stakeholders and a fair distribution of profits, are spreading throughout the business world. Yet the world of entrepreneurship, and the start-up universe in particular, is now sparking genuine debate about diversity, value sharing, environmental impacts and excesses in governance and management practices. Entrepreneurial ecosystems in local areas need to be rethought to become more inclusive and sustainable. To what extent can the SSE help to meet these challenges? Ten years after France’s law on the social and solidarity economy, known as the Hamon Act, what has it achieved in transforming entrepreneurial ecosystems? How is the conventional economy adopting this model? Is the model universal, or does it need to be adapted to local contexts? Can the SSE help make ecosystems more inclusive and sustainable? How can we support the development of entrepreneurship in local areas through the Social and Solidarity Economy?
This webinar, organised by the Fondation MMA des Entrepreneurs du Futur and the Labex Entreprendre’s Entrepreneurial Ecosystem Lab, aims to answer these questions by bringing together the perspectives of French and Canadian researchers and practitioners, as well as grassroots actors and national networks.
